*Further Information*

*In this paper, we propose optimal backup times for protecting crashes or failures of the information security system. When malicious software and hardware failures bring crashes to computer systems, we need to restore data from backup data to recover from failure. Snapshot backup technology can make backup recoveries easily and instantly. However, frequent snapshot backups lead to a slow down in computer file systems. To keep good performance of computer systems, we have to execute snapshots and external backups at suitable times. In this paper, we obtain the total execution times which have to execute until the computing processing completes. Optimal checking times to minimize the execution time are derived analytically and numerically when the task has exponential and normal distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
