*Further Information*

*Sc Heerenveen is the most successful football club from the bilingual province of Fryslân (the Netherlands) and proudly markets itself as a Frisian club. One element of this is its online PR, encompassing a website and several social media channels, where it occasionally uses the Frisian language. We investigated how it does so and relate this to the broader topic of Frisian on social media. To this end, sc Heerenveen’s website and social media posts were examined, along with fan comments and pages. Furthermore, an expert interview with Frisian language promoter Mirjam Vellinga was conducted, whilst a questionnaire was sent to the sc Heerenveen media staff. We conclude that sc Heerenveen uses Frisian to display its identity and connect with its Frisian supporter community, creating an online Frisian-supporting environment in the process. Still, we would argue that sc Heerenveen has not fully utilized its agency in this regard.*
