*While the drone industry has made significant progress toward the commercialization of autonomous systems, critical issues such as crash incidents and the lack of standardized safety evaluation frameworks remain insufficiently addressed. This study applies two hazard analysis techniques, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), to drone systems and conducts a comparative evaluation to identify the strengths and limitations of each method in relation to specific analysis objectives and operational contexts. The comparison focuses on analysis procedures, results, and the potential for automation. Based on the findings, a practical guideline is proposed to support systematic safety assurance in drone operations. The results are expected to contribute to the enhancement of safety assessment frameworks and the development of relevant policies in the drone industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
